When should I paint?

You can paint when the weather conditions and pavement preparation requirements have been met. The following requirements are listed below:

  • All pavement surfaces must be cleaned prior to applying paint to ensure there is no surface contamination including dust, dirt, or grit of any kind. Follow all manufacturer instructions on the can of paint for preparation and the cleaning of the pavement.
  • The weather is an extremely important factor when painting outside and must be considered before painting begins. Painting should occur according to manufacturer's instructions located on cans.
  • Sherwin-Williams paint purchased through Fit and Fun Playscapes should be applied in accordance with the instructions on each can of paint provided. In summary, the following salient environmental conditions must be met for application of Sherwin-Williams paint purchased through Fit and Fun Playscapes:
    • Temperature: Only apply paint when between 50°F-90°F, and temperature is 5°F above dew-point. Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 85%. These conditions apply 24 hours before, during and after the application.
    • Precipitation: Only apply paint when there has been no rain within 12 hours before or after application, and at no time during application.
    • Coatings: Minimum 2 coatings, 2 hours between coatings
  • If paint was not purchased through Fit and Fun Playscapes, make sure to follow all manufacturer's instructions located on cans.
